Wine of the Week: Bonny Doon Vin Gris de Cigare

73% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 8% Grenache Blanc, 5% Roussanne, 4% Cinsault.
This Rose from California is the pink version of Le Cigare Volant, Bonny Doon’s flagship wine named in honor of the cigar-shaped alien craft banned from landing in the vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape by decree of the village council in 1954.
Using an unplugged or “acoustic” style of farming they integrate sustainable practices, with an exceptionally light-hand, minimal intervention and manipulation.

Hints of wild strawberry, white cherry, ripe peach, and the barest whiff of spearmint give way to zesty notes of strawberry, watermelon, blood orange, peach, and citrus.
Lip Smacking Goodness in each and every bottle for the believer in all of us!

Wonderful with traditional Provençal fare including charcuterie, pâté, salade niçoise, it’s also an incredibly flexible partner at the table, complimenting everything from international cuisine—curries, tagines, or chiles rellenos—to a vast array of seafoods, poultry, salads, and cheeses.
